The Frankie Gunns record of the week v4
Frankie Gunns
Special to The Ryersonian

Artist: José James
Title: Blackmagic LP
Label: Brownswood
Genre: RnB / Soul

Vocalist José James is back for his second album and it’s a bit of a different excursion from his first, which was more of a traditional jazz foray.

This time around he flexes an RnB tip and teams up with some of the underground’s best craftsmen to complement his talents.

His silky smooth voice takes command and you can’t help but get caught bobbing your head to every single track on this album.

In a world that is inundated with disposable shallow lyrics and beats, this work stands out as something that will be relevant years down the line.

Production by Flying Lotus, Moodyman, DJ Mitsu and Taylor McFerrin, to name a few.
